A magical winter season is looking to bloom with Jon M. Chu’s Wicked, seeing Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo starring as the two wonderous witches of Oz.
This is even more so with the film’s official trailer, which has been released by Universal Pictures.
The highly anticipated adaptation, which is based on Stephen Schwartz and Holzman’s musical and Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, puts Grande and Erivo on two different paths with Grande as the popular and ambitious Glinda and Erivo as the misunderstood Elphaba.
The3-minute trailer sees Glinda and Elphaba attending the prestigious Shiz University, where the two try to find their place in Oz with their very different circumstances.
They’ll eventually come upon the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, though not for the better.
