“I didn’t come out (as gay)” clarified actor Michele Morrone in an Instagram post after reports circulated that the actor may have opened up about his sexuality.
Morrone sent the internet into a frenzy on Tuesday night when he posted a selfie with his ‘365 Days‘ co-star Simone Susinna and captioned it saying, “I’m a liar.”
Although the actor didn’t mention anything about his sexuality in his post, fans thought his shirtless photo on the first day of Pride Month was an indication that he came out of the closet. Taking to his stories the actor didn’t just laugh off the rumours, but also assured all that he is a “big supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
“This morning, I woke up with my team calling me and saying, ‘Hey, there’s a lot of articles…saying that you came out,’ because of the picture I took with Simone. He became a very good friend of mine, we’re like brothers. We’re shooting a movie together. Guys, it was just a picture. Nothing more,” Michele said to his fans.
“And by the way…I’m a very big supporter of the LGBT community. But we’re just talking about a normal picture. I didn’t come out,” he added.
The actor also addressed the caption that confused many fans. “An actor is a kind of liar. That’s why I wrote that. Acting…someone who is not. I didn’t come out,” he continued.
“So, I’m so sorry for the confusion. As I said, I’m a big supporter of the LGBT community. There’s a lot of young guys and young girls…they would love to come out but they don’t do it because of their families. You know, happiness is priceless, guys.”
He signed off saying, “Peace and love, I love you so much.”
Michele and Simone will feature as enemies in the upcoming 365 Days sequel. It has been reported that the two men will vie for Anna-Maria Sieklucka’s love in the film franchise that will be made into a trilogy.
