Prince William’s ‘difficult’ support network as he faces future without ‘rock
Prince William was hit with two heart-wrenching blows this year when both his father and his cherished wife were diagnosed with cancer.
The Princess of Wales courageously revealed she had been receiving treatment for an unspecified form of the disease in a video message on 22 March, stating it had taken her time “to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment”. She added that she was “getting stronger every day
For William, whose mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, tragically died in a car crash in 1997 at just 36-years-old, the pressure must have been immense, especially as he’s also had to step in for his father at various high-profile Royal events
Without his grandmother once described by Sarah, Duchess of York, as “the best granny in the world” to provide guidance, and with his father and wife recuperating from serious illness, one can’t help but wonder who William has to lean on during these trying times.
“In the old days it would have been Harry, so it’s difficult to know who,” Andrew Morton, author of The Queen: 1926-2022, tells OK!. “Certainly he needs all the support he can get as would any father who’s trying to bring up three boisterous kids with a wife who’s ill.”
In his heartfelt speech following the King’s coronation concert at Windsor Castle in 2023, William said of his grandmother: “I know she’s up there, fondly keeping an eye on us.”
In the midst of William’s struggle, Royal expert Kinsey Schofield has predicted on GB News that 2024 could see a reconciliation between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal family. She speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may use their offspring, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, as a means of reinitiating connections with the royals.
Kinsey proposed: “If Harry did want a way back in he could use the excuse that despite his personal beef with King Charles, he wants his children to have a relationship with their grandfather, it would be the perfect way back wouldn’t it? “.
