Buckingham Palace issues uplifting announcement for Prince Edward, Sophie…
The royal family is acknowledging the efforts of their hardworking royal members as they attend to a key event supporting their home country.
Buckingham Palace on Sunday, September 8th, shared some highlights from the Paris Paralymics event as Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex represented the royal family to uplift the spirits of Team GB.
King Charles’ office shared a clip of the event which showed the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh interacting with the players, making conversation and sharing a laugh.
The video was also accompanied by a statement from the Palace.
“It’s been an inspiring few days of @Paralympics sport at @Paris2024,” the caption read. “The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh congratulated @SammiKinghorn on the night she won Gold in the T53 100m and attended a wide range of events to cheer on @ParalympicsGB_official.”
It continued, “Their Royal Highnesses also visited the Paralympic Village and met the families of British athletes at ParalympicsGB House. The Duke is Patron of the British Paralympic Association and has been attending the @Paralympics since Barcelona in 1992. The Duchess is Patron of @BritishCycling and @BritWheelBBall.”
The heartwarming video garnered much praise from fans as they dubbed the couple “great ambassadors for the UK.”
“The Duke and Duchess deserve far more accolades for the way in which they undertake their roles. Their elevation within the ranks of the royal family are long overdue,” on user wrote.
Another added, “Duke and Duchess so much. They seem like such warm and loving fun people.”
“I’ve noticed them in the crowd looking on at some of the sports. Great am ambassadors for the UK and great support for our Paralympians,” complimented one.
