News of Darell Sheets’ passing first emerged on April 22 after authorities in Arizona responded to his home in the Lake Havasu area following reports of a deceased individual at the property.

According to the police report, officers arrived to find the 67-year-old suffering from what was described as a “self-inflicted gunshot wound to head.”

Now, Darrell’s son, Brandon Sheets, is publicly mourning the loss of his father while asking for time and privacy as the family processes the tragedy.

Brandon, who appeared alongside his father on Storage Wars for years, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram over the weekend.

“My heart is so broken. . . I love you Dad and I will do my best to live in your honor and respect our Family. Let’s all continue to build those memories and keep the legacy that is Darrell (The Gambler) Sheets,” he wrote.

Brandon also acknowledged the overwhelming response from fans while explaining he was not ready to answer questions publicly.

I cant answer everyone’s questions or concerns right now, I think we all just need time to process and remember all the good that my Father was and will continue to be through my Son and I.”

He went on, “The love we all have for this man and all his kindness is only a small portion of who he truly is.

The post included several family photos of Darrell, including images of him spending time with his grandson.

Fans of the longtime reality series quickly filled the comments with condolences and memories of watching the father-son duo on television.

“My most sincere condolences @brandosheets you and your Dad were our favourites on the show,” one person wrote.

Another added: “I’m deeply sorry. I can’t imagine what you and your entire family are going through.”

Storage Wars cast member Brandi Passante also responded publicly.

“I’m truly so sorry for the incredibly painful loss that you and your family have to endure. Sending you love and hugs from afar,” she commented.

Brandon later followed the tribute with a slideshow video featuring more photos of his father throughout the years.

“Missing you hard today Dad,” he captioned the post.

According to the official police report, authorities were dispatched during the early hours of April 22.

“On April 22, 2026, at approximately 2:00am, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Drive in reference to a reported deceased individual.”

Darrell Sheets rose to fame as one of the breakout personalities on A&E’s Storage Wars, where his larger-than-life personality and aggressive bidding style earned him the nickname “The Gambler.”

The show followed professional buyers competing for abandoned storage lockers, often gambling thousands of dollars without knowing what was inside.

Sheets became one of the franchise’s most recognizable stars after joining the original cast when the series premiered in 2010.

His son Brandon also became a fan favorite on the show under the nickname “The Sidebet” before leaving during season nine.

Darrell himself eventually stepped away from the series following its 15th season in 2023.

One of his most legendary moments on the show came in 2012, when he spent $3,600 on a storage locker that ultimately contained original artwork by Mexican painter Frank Gutierrez reportedly valued at around $300,000—then considered the biggest payout in the show’s history.

After retiring from television, Sheets relocated to Lake Havasu, where he opened an antique and salvage business called Havasu Show Me Your Junk.

Following news of his death, fellow Storage Wars star René Nezhoda also posted a deeply emotional tribute video.

“This was not an easy video to shoot. Unfortunately, Darrell Sheets took his own life. So he passed away,” Nezhoda said.

He addressed their often-competitive dynamic on the series while emphasizing that the rivalry never reflected personal hatred.

“I know a lot of you guys think we hated each other because we competed a lot on the show. And you know, we had our moments. We had our run-ins because we were both competitors, right?”

“We were both competitors with the biggest threat out there.”

Nezhoda also alleged that Sheets had been dealing with severe online harassment in the weeks leading up to his death.

According to him, Darrell had spoken publicly about being targeted by a “cyberbully.”

“You never know what demons somebody faces and what they go through and what you might push them through,” Nezhoda said.

“Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that has been cyberbullying and torturing him and I really hope they look into that guy and that’s just not a pass. It’s just not right guys. Be better.”

Darrell Sheets is survived by his two children, Brandon and Tiffany Sheets.
