The production studio behind the horror, Grindstone Entertainment, is a subsidiary of Lionsgate – one of the biggest studios in the movie industry.
The plot of the movie is currently under wraps, however, it’s expected to follow a similar storyline to the original animated version – just with a modern horror twist.
After the viral success of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its 2024 sequel, a magnitude of indie-styled horror movie adaptations based on childhood characters have made their way to the screen.
Grindstone’s The Little Mermaid is expected to be released later this year.
