Disney’s new Lion King movie trailer confirms it’s also a sequel

 

“A lion who would change our lives forever.”

Walt Disney Studios has officially released the teaser trailer for sequel, Mufasa.

Although details of it being a prequel were shared prior to the release of the trailer, which is still somewhat true, this new movie will also be a sequel and feature both new and returning cast members.

Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Knowles-Carter, will be voicing King Simba and Queen Nala’s daughter Kiara.

As per Walt Disney Studios, the synopsis reads: “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick.

Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline.

The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

As confirmed by Walt Disney Studios, both new and returning cast members have been announced.

will voice Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. plays Taks – described as a lion with a bright future who accepts Mufasa into his family as a brother.

Tiffany Boone as Sarabi, Kagiso Lediga as Young Rafiki, Kagiso Lediga as Young Rafiki, Preston Nyman as Zazu, and Doctor Strange star Mads Mikkelsen as Kiros – described as a formidable lion with big plans for his pride.

Anika Noni Rose plays Mufasa’s bother, Afia, with who voices his father, Mesego.

John Kani voices Rafiki with returning stars and who will be voicing Pumbaa and Timon once again.

Donald Glover and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter also return to voice King Simba and Queen Nala.

Mufasa: The Lion King comes to theatres on December 20th, 2024.
