New Little Mermaid 2024 movie receives R-Rating for violence and nudity

Grindstone’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ adaptation has been rated R by the MPA.

Grindstone Entertainment Group’s upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid has received an R-rating from the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

According to an official listing by the Classification and Rating Administration, the movie was rated R for language, some violence and brief nudity.

This is the first instance of a movie titled The Little Mermaid by Grindstone ever coming up in the entertainment industry, so it is quite perplexing as to how the movie went through development and production so silently.

Grindstone Entertainment Group is a film production and distribution company based in the United States. It is a subsidiary of Lionsgate, a major player in the entertainment industry.

The company primarily focuses on acquiring and distributing feature films across various platforms, including theatrical releases, home entertainment, and digital streaming services.

The plot of the movie is under wraps at this point, and no synopses have been released. No key art either.

The listing also confirms the movie will be released later this year.

No information about the cast or crew of the movie has been announced as well, although news should be inbound as soon as its marketing campaign ramps up.

Other listings from this week’s film ratings bulletin include Furiosa, which was rated R for sequences of strong violence and grisly images, and The Strangers: Chapter One, rated R for horror violence, language and brief drug use.
